Living as we do in the heart of the west Mainland a remarkable number of major cultural and natural heritage sites are with very easy reach.
Both the World famous neolithic village of Skara Brae and the mysterious underworld site of Minehowe are no more than a 20 minute drive from Heddle. In between there are enough fascinating sites to keep the most ardent archaeology fan occupied for months.
In addition we are surrounded by six major RSPB reserves. The reserves of Brodgar, Cottiscarth and Hobbister are within a 5 minutes drive. Birsay Moors, Marwick Head and The Loons less than 20 minutes away.
